This powerful documentary reveals the details of the little-known crime known as the largest gay mass murder, before this year’s tragedy in Orlando.

On June 24, 1973, a gay bar in New Orleans’s French Quarter called the Up Stairs Lounge was deliberately set on fire: 32 people were killed, and no one was ever brought to justice. In fact, what attention the authorities and media did pay was mostly to mock the victims for being gay. After realizing that most of his friends had never heard of the arson, director Robert Camina (Raid of the Rainbow Lounge) did the kind of investigative journalism that wins awards, tracking down witnesses, survivors, and loved ones of the victims.
